Can anyone help. I am away on business and noticed yesterday OEM fog light on right side began flickering and then went. No problem planned to take it in to Lind when back to have a look.

Weird bit – this morning pulled over by friendly plod. Issue with headlight. it is flashing – i.e. day time running light keeps on off. Not full beam. that works ok.

I have a look and after restart, light is off completely. Get to hotel and in evening start bike up in underground garage. No running light. Turn garage light off and light doesn’t come on. Get manual out and 10 mins later repeat and running lights come on with garage light on. Starts bike - running light begins to flash. I don’t have hex Ezcan or anything or electrical mod.
Go to get phone to video but no running light whatsoever. Checked manual, fuses, main beam switch, loose connections etc. but nothing.
Bike has been in dry and not washed or anything.
Any idea where to start? Hoping bright spark may be able to help rather than have to leave early tomorrow to limp home. Dont want to be off the road with the good weather.
Thanks
Mike

Respect and thanks to Lind in Welwyn

This is the reason I bought the BMW - the dealer service. Took it straight to dealers. They were packed and had a mechanic down. They still took it in there and then replaced the fog light there and then as well as sorted the lights. No questions asked. No moans just did it. Had time just for two coffees and was back on road for a ride out. They want it back next week as they discovered I have a small fork seal leak.
Had a known electrical issue on my Pan (in warranty) and took six weeks to get fixed.
Ride safe

Glad your bike has been sorted and your dealer came up trumps, nice to hear some positives for a change! was the headlight problem to do with fog light issue?

I was told - They replaced the spot as it's on the same lighting system and could not let it go back out. All I heard was they replaced it and the lighting error was no longer showing on the diagnostics anymore. Have done 450 miles since and no issue. They may have tighten connections or something but would not have noticed. The bar switches have not been replaced. Apologies outside of changing fuses and odd bulb I am completely ignorant and hence my original request.

I had similar service from Lind Welwyn. Losy my back break peddle on the way down to the ferry at Portsmouth , on a Saturday. called in to Lind and they took it straight in and bled it . Finished , before i had had my free cup of coffee !

I did have a headlamp issue in the first week with my brand new Sept 2016 GS where the headlamp warning lamp would come on after around 15/20 minutes riding, the problem was solved by the dealer fitting a new headlamp cooling fan, I didn't realise that the bike had such a clever thing fitted.

Anyway it was easily and quickly solved.

When the bike sensed that the day-lamp was over heating due to the lack cooling, it switched the lamp off and put a warning up on the display. After cooling off it would work as normal.

No issues since after 6000+ miles
