I came back in the dark on country roads this evening and I find the 1300gs headlight very poor. It has the pattern of the LED segments in the headlight beam and has gaps in the light with dark stripes.
What is the standard headlight like if you don't select the headlight Pro option and pay an extra £460 for it! ??. Wish I hadn't selected it!. I presume it's still an Led headlight. According to the literature the headlight Pro is supposed to be better and has cornering light and other extra functions. What extra functions I can't see anything happening with the light when cornering.
Quote from the BMW configurator :-- "Driving lights, high-beam headlights and cornering lights come in an LED matrix design. Modern lighting functions and headlight range adjustment are available. This way, you can optimally illuminate the road to suit the driving situation."

What modern lighting functions & headlight range adjustment? Do they mean the screw on the back if the light that adjusts both the high beam & the dip at the same time. The same function as you had on a 1965 ford escort :) -- headlight adjuster screw!.

The headlight on my previous 1250gs had the adaptive headlight which tilted the beam when you cornered. Bit of a novelty but at least it worked and the headlight was fantastic compared to this one with it's fantailed pattern and missing light gaps in the beam.
I'll try and post a photo of the beam pattern. Is it just mine that's faulty or are all the 1300gs headlights as bad.

Hm. My 1300GS has not arrived yet, but--
My wee car has that swivelling look around corners thing. It wasn't working, and I thought it was broken. However, after reading the manual, it turned out that it did not work in all driving modes; in ECO mode it didn't, but in Sport it did.
Just a wild thought.

mine is same as yours
I have 1300gs te
my full beam is up in sky
i have driven at night in road mode and also dynamic mode but no difference
i have questioned this to my local dealer
no answer yet

I turned mine down using the adjuster screw at the back of headlight. It's now ok on alignment height wise but it's the led segments in the light are just rubbish with the lines and blank spots.

Doesn't change with driving modes. Think it's supposed to do the cornering lights by the lean angle sensors & extra LEDs lighting up but the light doesn't seem do anything. The 1250 had a mechanical tilt mechanism (adaptive headlight) but the 1300 seems to be just a con. Whoever thinks a headlight beam pattern with stripes and a fan pattern in it is his on something. !.
When driving my car with LEDs & my previous 1250gs there are no gaps and dark lines in the beam.

Yep, I think the headlight Pro is a total waste of £460. More so if you have the aux lights. I was out this evening and switched the Aux lights off and you can then see the "Pro" lighting up the inside of the bend when you corner but if the Aux lights are switched on they are lighting up the same area anyway.
Best off only getting the Aux lights, they also make you more visible in daylight.
My previous 1250gs with the adaptive headlight was a much better light.

Thanks for confirming what I had thought…that the aux lights will fill the parts that the headlight pro would.
I have ordered aux lights, but NOT the pro headlight as I thought the aux lights would be better use of the money as they make the bike more visible in daylight, and fill on the holes on corners..
