Headlights dazzling oncoming vehicles

All of this banter, or vitriol, depending on your point of view (i'm unapologetically sitting firmly on the fence on that thank you) should have / could have so easily been avoided if some of the subsequent posters knew how to use their bloody smileys properly .....

I have a 2012 from new. Every Tom, Dick and Harry was flashing their lights at me. Cars in front were covering their rear view mirror. A colleague at work asked if my h/lamp aim was out.

"I dunno, just bought it"!

Flipped the switch 'down' , no more angry flashy lights. :augie

Test: Light beam is lower on a garage door with the lever flipped down.

You know, i think mine has been down since the day I bought it. Never really ridden in the dark, apart form touring - when the bike is fully loladed , so not really noticed.

Only bought it in 2011 and done 20,000 on it so not really had chance :augie

It's all coming together now.....

More adjustments me thinks :confused:

Internet behavior doesn't need analyzing its just observation and classification. You're correct I've never met these people, that I know of, so I judge solely on their behavior.

How many times does someone need act like a twat before I can safely classify them as such?

Now, I noticed you didn't jump on this little piece of analysis but then IJGser shows the same thirst to abuse that I've seen others on here display. Group think, I think, they call it; your oblivious to how appalling your behavior can be at times because it has become the norm.....

You might want to read up on Cognitive Dissonance Theory it explains some of the mental conflicts that come about when ones belief systems are challenged and how that conflict is made manifest by a tendency create illusional constructs to normalize their behavior.

...but this is not the norm is it? I mean you wouldn’t behave like this in the street? This is really an illusory construct; one designed to provide some posters with an environment where there abusive tendencies, tendencies that have probably been buried for years, can be vented which, in itself, is pretty harmless.

Apart from, and this is the important bit, abusive behavior is not normal and no amount of shouting at and attempting to belittle will make it so.

In summary, some people use internet forums to vent but most people don’t and don't want to be vented at. The second are normal functioning human beings the first are trying to be.

Oh...and I'm not even starting on Fanum's post as there's no challenge in that one.

You should leave classification to the Americans, that's why they have brought out DSM 5. So that people can have a name to hang on whatever the suffer from, or are told they suffer from. The whole reason behind this is that unless "it" has a name, an "ism" for instance, people cannot get their insurance to pay out so that they can get so call treatment.

In addition to Cognitive dissidence, you might like to look a Fragile Process, also a theory, which means it's not set in concrete and is open to interpretation. Both are labels and people don't need labels, they need understanding

And in any case you are not judging "solely on their behaviour" You are judging solely on your perception of their behaviour which is an entirely different matter. And classifying them as a twat, only makes them so in your mind, something which another contributor tried to bring to your attention but which appears to have gone over your head.

Well, I've had my day out on the bike, end of season run over the Grossglockner, and I'm bored now! Anyway I predicted 15 pages so I have to do my bit.

From that I judge you to be a jammy bastard. Only done it once at the end of a trip up from Croatia so not really is a state to appreciate it properly, will do it again one day.

Would that be perception in the Schrodinger's Cat sense? If not then it is quite clear what someone has written and unless it code then the meaning is also quite clear.

But hey ho, nearly finished work and will attempt to sort the lights.
