I am looking to get something like a SENA helmet system that can take a 3.5 mm stereo jack for ear buds.

the system must be able to Bluetooth (or whatever) to the satnav for music etc.

i hate these ear speaker systems as they do not isolate the road noise.

In the past i did connect into the helmet speakers (using a suitable 100 ohm resistor to suppress hum) but wondering if there is anything suitable out there

Sena works with ear buds but can be unreliable, the cognoscenti go or the 30x over the 50 for reliability.

Interphone ucom16 needs a bit of home wiring done to accept a 3.5mm jack, but seems the more reliable unit.

I have no experience of the Cardo range but I think they work too.

Yes the Cardo Packtalk Edge has a 3.5mm connector that accepts a jack so you have a choice of either using the headset speakers or your own in ear buds.

In the past I've used speakers with the volume up a bit and normal ear plugs to reduce the road noise.
May be worth a try if you haven't already

I use a Cardo Packtalk Edge which is the first headset I've found to work with speakers of sufficient quality to allow me to hear with with ear plugs in.
Top piece of kit. (Plus it does have a 3.5mmm jack).

Get a helmet that fits! , and have the HD speakers fitted properly (y)

I had a Sena 30K and the std speakers in my Scorpion ADX, i needed earplugs due to the road noise, which meant the Sena needs to be loud!!

Fitted the HD speakers, didnt need the volume as high, but still needed earplugs

Changed to a Schuberth E1 and fitted the HD units, - they sit way closer to your ears than in the Scorpion

Fitted a set to my Shark as well (y)

No plugs needed in either helmet -

It's like being in a nightclub lol

SENA 20S for me as it has the jackplug connection for my 'ultimate ear' in ear speakers. No wind noise and perfect audio.

Same for me - except I have the older Sena 10s system with the ear bud compatible boom set-up.

I am a deaf old goat and wear hearing aids, so the in-helmet speakers just don’t work for me. The Sena combined with Ultimate Ear buds works a treat.

I used the same 20S kit previously, a great setup and once you get the hang of the rotary controller it’s so easy to use, especially with music. I use Ultimate Hearing in-ear custom monitors, it’s surprising how quiet you can run them and still hear everything and enjoy quality audio.

I now use a Shoei Neotec 2 helmet with integrated Sena SRL comms that have been adapted by UE with a 3.5mm female jack instead of in-helmet speakers.

I think all comms makers should include an integrated 3.5mm jack socket as standard.

Very interesting about the Neotec2 and SRL as I've just bought pair of Neotec 2s with SRL comms too.
Will have to contact UE for the same, thanks Pukmeister!

In some European countries (France at least I think) it’s not legal to use in-ear monitors. So that will discourage some manufacturers from offering it I suspect. I’ve never been checked mind.

No problem, I bought the helmet used from Wapping (in as-new condition), he said he got it converted by UE. The in-helmet speakers no longer function as the output runs via a short cable about 6” long to a female headphone jack which attaches by Velcro when not in use. I’ll put a picture up later.

For those of you who have done this SRL mod or similar, here's my question:

Have Sena 20S and 50S with integrated 3.5mm audio jacks which I use for wired ear buds. Just installed SRL-Mesh in my Neotec 2 and obviously no audio out jack. Sent the SRL unit to an audiologist who made my earbuds years back, plus does custom installations of 3.5mm audio out pigtails for the SRL's. It works fine but music is way too heavy on the bass and very little treble. Perfect when using ear buds in the 20S and 50S as well as using the Harman-Kardon speakers, but not perfect in the SRL with 3.5mm ear buds. She solders the adapter to the SRL PCB board in the battery box and says its fairly simple with a couple of grounds and speaker + and - leads. I used the Sena app to turn off audio boost, increase treble, etc. No joy. Any idea why the bass would be so overwhelming? Thanks much.

I use ear buds made by CF ride with 3.5 jack, There was and maybe still is a post on Adventure Bike with a full details conversion of the SRL headset bypassing speaker etc, only cost a female 3.5 lead (Amazon) and some little connectors also available online.
Then a clever person with a soldering tool. Works perfectly

I've seen the ADVRider thread. He wired direct to the existing speaker wires using JST connectors. Mine are wired direct to the PCB board and don't bypass the speakers. When my earbuds are plugged in you hear through them simultaneously with the speakers, but at different volumes.

I made my own by splicing a 3.5mm jack lead onto the speakers - don’t have any issues with sound quality on speakers or earbuds.
