SWMBO has been watching the re-runs of Heartbeat and wants to visit the area in August. We will probably cruise up in the Hymer motorhome with a couple of enduro bikes on the trailer.

Can anyone who lives locally suggest good places to stay and visit please.

Cheers

Sid

The Horseshoe Inn at Levisham is a lovely quiet country pub with a small camp site behind it. Electric hook ups. Few years since I've been through the doors but the food and bier were excellent :thumb

Just ideal for the North Yorkshire Moors. The ford that is often seen in Heartbeat is on the Stape to Egton Bridge road.

Enjoy :thumb

I lived there once, but it meant I never really stayed in the local hotels.

We (3 Whitby ex-pats) camped last year at the farm on the way in to Goathland from RAF Fylingdales where they used to film sciences for Greengrass's place, but I can't remember what it's called. No facilities, but unusually these days you are allowed fires!:camping

The stables restaurant on the way from Newholm to Whitby was always nice for dinner, and the Magpie in town does great 'sit-down' Fish n Chips.

Sunrise or sunset from Sandsend beach are both well worth seeing, and the Abbey at Whitby is well worth a visit.

Sleights Chippy is also very good if staying at Goathland .:thumb2

Many thanks for the replies so far. We will probably spend a week there before heading down to Wales for the Dawn to Dusk on 23rd August. Very happy to do some serious off roading with Johnny etc. I'll probably bring the Airhead racer, the KTM 300 and the Honda CRF.

Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Serious offroading - you must be mistaken

It'll be a bimble over the Moors, some great trails, with a few that are 10-15 miles long

Not training for D to D :)

as is Scarborough and Olivers Mount...the only place in England where real road racing is still held.

It's where my avatar pic was taken, on my olde Bonnie at Mere Hairpin, scene of loads of great old photos of Sheene, Ago, Gardner and co.

I've been out on some gentle trails on it today, then the weather arrived!

Sorry for the thread hijack, but you don't happen to have a Lotus 7 do you Mark Jackson? UXB with a bike engine??

That's me. This is Mavis >>>

Not seen you for a while, didn't know if you still had Mavis.
Seven Club Teesside now meets up first Monday of each month at the Board Inn at Lealholm.
Welcome to drop in if you are in the area.

Hi Dave:thumb2

I need to get an MoT on Mavis, and some new R888s, as I've a trackDay at Blyton in March. It must be 20 years since I last called in the Board in Lealholm, but it's lovely down there on a summer evening:beerjug:
