Left hand heated grip failed at the weekend, bike has done 13,000 miles.:(

Need info on checking (i have a multimeter) and removal if it needs replacing

Thanks
Brian.

I phoned sherlocks yesterday afternoon and got a second hand one for my 1150 for £15. It arrived this morning ,18 hours from devon!!! and I fitted it in about an hour. I cant see a 1200 being harder to fit but theres likely to be less second hand ones about. Usually if one isnt working its because its goosed. People have succesfully mended them with delicate soldering but i couldnt. The left usually goes first because people pull hard on it to get their bike on the stand.

On 1200's the heater element is embeded in the rubber of the grip. If you have damaged the grip in any way, the whole thing will need replacing. Thats assuming you've checked connectors etc.

Thanks guy's

Had heard they changed the design on the 1200

Anyone know which colour wires, the grip and switchgear seem to go into the harness (quick look in poor light)?

Thanks
Brian.

Not if you've got a sharp knife and a bit of common sense it doesn't ;)

Did one in a hotel reception in Ouzazarte last year quite successfully :D

Blinking typical that it goes now when it's blinking freezing!!.....

Why do these things never go pear shaped in July???.....:nenau

Hope you sort it soon Brian....I couldn't do without mine.....:comfort

To remove heated grip(s) you need to undo the relevant handlebar switchgear.

Within the switchgear housing are the retaining screws for the heated grip itself plus a tiny multiplug connector for the heated grip wiring. Easy job.
