heated grip failure

my right hand heated grip has failed. i'm5 weeks outside 2 year warranty but I bought 1 years extended warranty and guess what its not covered. I'm not a happy camper. about £100 to replace at bm, £71 to buy and do myself. Before I march on Munich and declare war has anyone got any advice.

Buy some Honda Varadero/CBF ones. Bullet proof and will outlast the bike.

Yes, but I made a mistake posting the varadero ones. They need an additional harness. The CBF ones are digital and will fit.

There was a known fault with 08 Model year heated grips. Mine didn't work on a long trip (very soon after I got it). When I got back BMW Bracknell issued an update thing and fixed it for free. Initial reaction was "nothing is wrong".

Don't know if that helps but they were faulty from day 1.

£14.5k and the heated grips only last two years

Heated Grip Fault Update

Has anyone had success with an out of warranty claim?

I've got an 08 GS, warranty just expired. LH grip has stopped working. I have stripped it down to check everything, its still getting power but is dead as a dodo. Given its a sealed unit with no moving parts it seems a dead cert for manufacturer fault.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, tried that but no success. They were particularly helpful with the suggestion that it failed because it was "heating up and cooling down that put stress on the heating wires causing them to break".

Then I'd be calling BMW Customer Services directly and explaining my disatisfaction at the premature failure of a non serviceable item
