What age is the bike?... did one on my TU and it was just the grip.. you can test the plug to see if its getting volts maybe... try Motorworks

If the bike has been bought recently, unless the seller informed about the malfunction, this ought to be at the sellers expense ?

With both grips out, this fault must have been there for a while. I have never heard of both grips failing simultaneously unless there was a short that caused an overload and shut down the circuit.

Has it got the sat nav prep fitted .................. if it hasn't I have a brand new (350 miles ) left hand grip you can have for the cost of postage (BMW forgot to fit sat nav prep to my 2018 bike) , if it has the wobbly wheel thing for sat nav then it will not fit.

Oxford grips on my Versys may not look as nice or neat but work a damned sight better than BMW grips.

PM me if it is any use

Says LHS not both

Before you go ordering one, make sure the plug is pushed home, i had mine in bits and didnt get it right first time. Peel the grip back and there is a small pin (bolt actualy) pushed through the grip to hold it onto the bar, remove this, and the whole thing inc switch gear comes off. The haynes manual gives a better description, but the grip has a small plug on the end which plugs into the switchgear.
