Has anyone put Oxford heated grips on to an r80g/s? If so, which ones fit, and do they work well? Thanks, Rob.

The new Oxford ones don't fit as they are for 22mm bars and the original R80g/s bars are 1 inch.

I got some from an Ebay shop BITZFORBIKES LTD which I had fitted and seem okay. I haven't really used them in anger yet.

What you may also look at are some heated sheets that wrap around the bars underneath ordinary grips, then you get a great choice of grips. Mikey Boy showed me these, so you could ask him.

Hope this helps.

Hi Rob, I don't know what side of London you are on, but if you ever get down towards Reading, MTC motorcycles have a heated grip display on the counter, all wired in and working, so you can check them out, and see if they will fit at the same time. :thumb2

Let us all know what you decide on, I might put a set on mine.

If someone drops Thunder a line he bought some film elements that went on below the standard grip

My Mate had the Ceramic insert type in his Paralever

Bars are all 7/8 until the 1200GS and maybe 1200CL came out

Try the symtec heated pads that fit under the original grips. You dont end up with big fat grips. Two heat settings, £45 ish from winding roads.

Thanks everyone, I think I will try the Oxford sports model. I will let you know how I get on. Thanks again, Rob.

you'll not go wrong with these from here

fit all size bars, 2 switch options and they work well ..no bulky controller either.

I had heated grips on my Pan but much much prefered the heated Gerbing gloves as these heated the entire hand not just the palms. Not cheap but in cold weather far superior.:rob

Heated gloves certainly work better, but they are a pain with all the wires trailing. I use them for longer rides if it's going to be cold, but I find it's good to have grips too, for those occasions when you get caught out.

As my RHS grip wiring has broken again I'm in the market for replacements. Has anyone got any experience with Polly Heaters? They fit inside the bars, so no twisting the cable backwards and forwards. They're designed primarily for snowmobiles so I guess they should work well....

Hi, thanks again for all the replies. I have fitted the oxford sport model and they fit well with no problems except that now I have open ended bars. This is ok because I also fitted a pair of Tucano urbano muffs.
I suspect all the oxford grips will fit as I believe they all have the same internal diameter.
Thanks
Rob
