For some reason, my bike was specified without heated grips... first owner had lots of problems with them on his last bike so didn't bother..
but ive just been out for 3 hours at 9 deg... and with summer gloves on, my hands are cold (prefer the thiness of summer gloves)

so, what to do?
I can buy the BMW bits from Motowerks for about £200 and have Mr BMW man turn them on in my ECU... nice neat fix, but they do have issues or
I can buy Oxford Adventure prips for £40 new, and fit them... they do work well, but don't look quite as neat?... but do they look bad??

Any thoughts on the way to go :)

Go for the Oxford grips and put up with the lack of neatness and spend £160 on petrol! ;)

Just spend your cash on a pair of BMW 2 in 1 gloves, problem solved, and better, and I keep forgetting I have heated grips never used them yet.

Someone bought a GS without heated grips.................shit I almost fell of the sofa laughing

Oxford grips do work well, and they are cheaper. And look it.

I say do it properly - you and your "premium" bike deserve it, rather than having a fugly aftermarket controller and wires dangling everywhere....also if you prefer thinner gloves (presumably for "feel" reasons) be aware that the oxford grips are usually thicker than the excellent low profile BMW ones (which is why I dont like them) and deaden feel, in my case to the point where I felt I was holding on to a couple of big old cushy marrows.....

Feel free to ignore this advice.

I’ve had heated grips on most of my bikes and never really found them to that much of a benefit. The BMW ones on the GS are nice and warm, but if I have them on when caught out with thinner gloves, I always find my fingers tips and the back of my hands seem to feel colder.

I tend to now carry a spare pair of thicker, waterproof gloves all the time. I find them warmer than thin gloves with the heated grips on. If the bike didn’t have them fitted as standard, I wouldn’t put them on. And yes, I ride all year round.

Yep, used vented summer gloves all winter - heated grips needed to be turned off.

They do look shite though.

Muffs are great... But don't want them on all year round. BMW gloves you mention may work well... Any more glove options out there that are thin but warm and don't need a mortgage. did think of heated gloves but wires all over?

I have used Halvarsson's Newman gloves for the past few autumns, winters and springs. I find them excellent and when it is really cold, supplement them with a pair of Halvarsson’s silk inners.

I don't think anyone was suggesting you leave them on all year round. Just when the weather is cold !

problem is, even in summer, early mornings, it can be cold... I've been caught in hailstones in June a few times.. bloody freezing ....

Silk inners may work however?... than can use the summer ones I have now... will take a look ;)

These Newman ones look good.. are they what you have.. are they thin enough as they look quite a big glove? http://www.brandedbiker.co.uk/shop/...YUWkH969PwQ-xFZ7qPeW7q0GD-1UOg7kaApe2EALw_wcB

If you do buy BMW ones just make sure you buy post 2014 grips as the BMW grips on my 2014 are a complete waste of time (known issue as BMW changed them from 2015 onwards, also my previous 2006 GS grips worked much better than my current bike). Another issue BMW refused to fix on 2013/2014 bikes!

They’re the ones. For a three season glove, they are very thin and mine have been 100% waterproof. I also wear them in summer on colder or wet days. I have short fingers and they are the best fit I have ever had. Going to order a pair from them, as that is a bargain price. A lot of Honda dealers stock the Halvarsson’s range.

Scrub that. Just checked and they only have size 7 and 13 :-(

Thats why he didn't spec them in teh first place.. his first LC was crap for what he paid as an option.. so he used heated gloves.. but I can't see how they work.. too thick and wires??...

Thats why they are on offer then... will measure my hands and see what I am ;)
