Hello guys,

Was out early on the bike the other morning, it was a bit nippy so I put the heated grips on. I noticed that only the right one is working! Is this a common fault with the 09 GSA? Is it an easy fix? Or is it a trip to a dealer type thing?

Cheers

In warranty? Yes, then back to the dealer.

Out of warranty but you're not a DIY type? Yes, then back to the dealer/independant/friend who is a mechanic or buy one thicker glove.

Out of warranty and you are good with spanners - start diagnosing the problem - either the grip itself or the associated cabling/connectors usually.

Cheers,

Didn't think it would be as simple as I was hoping! Got a mate who's savvy with a set of spanners, so i'll get him to have a look.

As already said if it's in warranty then give it to the dealer.

If out of warranty then to be honest it is not that hard to do yourself, if I remember its just a case of taking off the hand guard, a couple of screws holding the switch unit to sepearate it and then unpluging the electrics. I used a simple bulb with 2 wires as a test unit to make sure power was getting to the grip then changed it for about £45 new from BMW.

Refitting is just as easy, all in probably half an hour job if you have never changed one before. :beerjug:
