Hi All. Just wondering if anyone can answer a quick question for me. 2009 GS1200. Left hand heated grip started working erratically the other week. Now failed totally.
Removed it, tested and checked and found it to be open circuit, soldered connection were fine. New grip on order. Question. The supply voltage tests out at 7.25V. Is this correct or do I need to look elsewhere too. Right grip shows 7.2 as well but seems to be working ok.
Thanks

I need to renew my membership. But if you are definitely replacing the faulty grip can I have it.
I'm intending to make some sorbothane soft grips but need an old grip to cut up to see how the heat element is done.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Checked it out again. 7.2V on both settings for both without the grips connected. When connected to the grips, the grip that's working is also 7.2 and has no voltage increase between Lo and Hi. The heat levels appear normal in that nice for Lo and toasty for Hi.
The GS911 shows no fault for a grip test!!

The buggered grip has undergone an autopsy this morning. Many, many pieces!!!!

Just thrown out 2 bust ones :blast both left side for some reason :nenau been sat in the garage since last year and fed up of moving them about

Hi All. Grips now working again after replacing the left hand one. Apparently they are PWM (pulse width modulation) controlled which means they are very fancy and ex the USS Enterprise. Geordie la Forge emailed me and explained all.
Haven't decided about going to Star Fleet Academy yet.
