Got a Stormrider heated vest for Xmas :bow. At full power the website claims the max power consumption is 2.5 amps. I'm running it directly from the battery but notice that the heated grips hardly get warm at all now. Would that imply the batterys on it's way out ? (a 2010 model but I've had a break from riding due to the weather) - or is that normal with heated clothing ?

Couple of observations for anyone thinking of buying one of these - its quite bulky - if your jacket is close fitting you might have to lose the lining (a bit of a pain as it doesn't have arms !) - and it runs radiator hot at full power.

Do your hand grips get fully warm with the heated clothing detached from the battery?

As the clothing only draws 2.5 amps, you could plug its power lead straight into the underseat aux power point. Probably a better solution than running it straight to the battery anyway.

2.5 amps is less than a single headlamp bulb and is well with the capability of your bike's electrical system.

If your heated grips feel colder, it has nothing to do with the electrical draw of the heated jacket.

@APE - I was out today with mine for the first time after my Chilli controller packed in.
I chopped up their wiring so I have the controller on the LH handguard mount; plugged into the LH accessory socket. Ran the cable under the painted tank cover and out at the front of the seat.
I wear the Stormrider over a thin fitted vest and under a Tesco cheapo fleece.
4C on the dash but couldn't have it at more than 5. 6 was too hot.
I suspect it's cos you're warmer that you get the impression that the grips are not as hot.

Thanks guys. Maybe its in my mind. Think I may need to get the controller to turn it down a bit :D
