As far as I am aware, the microwaves hit the metal and bounce off in various other wavelengths, including X-rays.

This is not entirely good for you....

I have a breville sandwich toaster, bought years ago for £3 at a boot sale specifically to be kept in the garage to heat bearings of all sizes and gearbox end and final drive covers. Absolutely perfect for the job
