Currently Jupiter and Venus appear as two very bright stars in the South West early evening sky and over the next few days will be closest tomorrow, Monday Dec 1st 2008 when a thin crescent Moon will also be in close proximity.
Then the two planets will drift gradually apart over the following week.
Jupiter is the higher, slightly dimmer one and Venus is the brighter, lower one and will gradually move to the left from night to night. These two objects will be brighter than any of the true stars in the sky.
So have a look; we are not talking star of Bethlem stuff - well I'm not but then again,
