I've just completed a 3000 mile trip around France including the Alps. The 2001 GS1150 ran very well apart from developing a very stiff throttle action.
I've had it a couple of months and whilst it wasn't the lightest throttle when I got it it has definitely got worse, so much so I was suffering with a painful right hand at the end of each day.
The "pulleys" (wrong word I know) on the injector bodies move freely so I'm thinking it could be the cable itself :nenau
Anyone had a similar problem? Easy to fix? Does having heated grips make changing the cable any more difficult?

Any advice tips appreciated. Thanks Sam.

Sounds like a frayed cable is most likely.

Check the operation of the throttle bodies and if they are free and spring back easily, it'll be a cable.

OOPS......you've already done that.

Check REALOEM.COM (bookmark it as well, it's a bloody useful site to know) and you can trace the routes of the cables and get part numbers etc...MOTORWORKS will probably be cheapest for new ones....and learn the following mantra ready for the cable change...." I FUCKING HATE BOWDEN BOXES!!!"

:comfort

Easy enough to do. Bits are quite expensive! Take a look at these

part 1 & part 2

Bit OTT as usual with the yanks but you'll get the gist.

ive just had exactly the same problem with my 1150GSA - stiff throttle

i bought new splitter box/cables/the lot - all ready to do the job when i had an idea which fixed it for a penny.

Take the plastic shrouding off from around the handlebar next to the twist grip (you tube it, there is one hidden screw behind the mirror stalk) and soak everything/cable the lot in SILICONE spray (including down the twist grip from the bar end 'end, which you take off as part of the disassembly procedure)

And it was fixed and lovely and light and the world was a good place again.

Amzing result for nowt. only took 20mins

I've given it a good lubing at both ends, (no sniggering at the back!) and it is a lot better. Not perfect but usable. If it stiffens up again I'll be looking at a new cable me thinks.
Thanks for the replys.
