Heidenau K60

I had K60 fitted at FWR in South London on Tuesday ......../////... give him a call. They charges £179 plus £24 for fitting.

ive been running the k60 scouts

im not sure but looking at the pics i suspect the front is a k60 rear whick may explain the arrow issues


and the rear is a k60 scout which is a different tread pattern

i have a 90/90/21 on mine and the arrow direction is correct which reverses the v pattern..

as you can see the front is different alltogether ..just add to the confusion i guess

on a positive note ive been very impressed with the tyre on the road and off road too .the rer drives just as well as the tks ..the front is far better than a tk on the road but in soft mud i think the tk is a little better ...ive pressure down to 22 on the ten and it deffinatly helps ,,if that helps

right time for a little update

Tyres done now 8000miles.Front still fine but the rear requires attention now in corners
Still not bad going.I did go off-road,did touring 2up fully loaded,fast bits and comuting

Has anyone actually done any proper mud work with these tyres. Would be interested to know how they coped in the really sticky stuff. I go through my rear TKC in 1500 miles if im lucky. So these might be a happy medium.
Any one have any pictures of a bike running these tyres in some offroad trips, as most of the time people say they go offroad but venture only a few metres off the road, or stage the photo.
So it would be good to get some un-bias feed back on how the K60 behaved off the beaten track.

You need paddles not tyres

I'm running them to Alaska next year as they are the tyre of choice to run the dirt roads up there. According to a pal of mine up there, they are better than TKC's in the wet and mud because the tread pattern allows the mud to move away from the tyre.

Thought I'd post in here instead of making a new thread. Just ordered a set of new boots myself, as the Tourance's have done 9k now and are pretty much borderline naughty...

Supposed to be more stable at higher speeds. You could run to the side wall on the old version but it definitely got very squirrely in fast corners on course surfaces.

I´ve done so far some 4tmls on my Heidenau K60 Scouts this season. 70% of that on gravel and forest roads. I have to admit that I never thought there could be this good tyre for all-around-purpose. They are perfect match with 1200GSA.
It´s a bit loud on the motorway but tolerable and handles "OK" up to 80. Beyond that speed it becomes interesting, but perhaps for that reason Heidenau limited top speed at 100.
On gravel it steers fine, feedback is nice and braking is steady. Unless you ride it oon too high air pressure. I have normally 1,8bar front and 2,0 bar at rear when riding alone off tarmac.
On road, two up, higher pressures (bikes recommended lower pressures 2,2F and 2,5R)
and you can easily keep up the pace with the boys in the twisties.
Absolutely great value!

Better than a knobbly and not as good as a road tyre

Treated with a bit of respect in cold/wet and I've yet to have a 'moment' on mine.
