Folks, I am still looking to reduce the seat height of my 12GSA with keeping the original seat.
My focus is on the suspension and reducing the seat height by about 25mm.
Some GSer must of made further progress into this quest than I have....
This is the only problem I have with my bike so I am keen to sort it.
Any information will be gratefully recieved.
Regards.
Timpo.

hagon shocks and ohlins do after market shocks, very easy to change, i think hagon cost about 400 pound when my mate bought one a year ago for 1200gs, they were very helpful. brought the height of the bike right down for my short legged friend :thumb

Use std 12GS shocks or equivalent A/Market, will reduce the seat height by 20+mm, or go for the A/Market low shocks,.
I use the std 12 Low seat, The cheap way??.

Local booterie glued a an extra .75" sole and heel to my boots for £30 - works well

If you shorten the shocks getting the bike up the extra "lost" height and onto the centrestand can become an issue, especially if laden. Not sure about the 1200GS but shortening the centrestand means it may no longer fit the rebate in the can

As it's the GSA fitting Ohlins standard 1200GS shocks rather than the lowered option will give you the required reduction and its been done on Wizard's bike so I know it works without any problems. :thumb

If the standard 1200GS shocks are shorter than the GSA's slip a piece of wood the same thickness as this difference under the bike and you will see what extra effort is required when you lift it onto the centrestand

and watch that side stand too, although it will stand up the bike will be near vertical. If you are seated and try to kick the stand down you get an over centre action where you will have to lean the bike to the right to account for the arc of swing.

Shortened Wilber's suspension just fitted...

Have just had a pair of shortened Wilber suspension units fitted to my 12GSA. I choose to shorten them by 2" and it's made a hell of a difference to its appearance but on the other hand I know feel that I could go off-road like my original GS with confidence. All I've done so far is ridden it the 130 miles home from where they were fitted. Shall report back some more once I've been for a 'proper' spin this afternoon. Needless to say the centre/side stand now require shortening.
