Had some cracking service from the lads at HG Luton in the last few weeks.

A few weeks ago i rode up to Grimsby to collect my new bike in heavy rain. I had a soaking chest by the time i arrived. I cannot really complain as my Voyager jacket was nearly 3 years old. In those 3 years i have probably covered 60-70,000 miles always using nik-wax every 6 months or so.

I re-read my guarantee and sure enough the Gore-tex was covered for 5 years. So off i headed to HG Luton. Explained the circumstances behind my request for a possible claim.

With no arguments the jacket was sent off to Gore-tex last week for an hour in the rain room. As i still needed a jacket for the commute the staff even gave me a loan jacket to tide me over.

The good news from my point of view, i got a call this morning stating that Gore-tex had identified some minute holes in the liner. I now have £199 in credit waiting for me, all i need to do is top this up by £50 to get the new version.

How cool is that?

Nice to see a company that honours it's guarantee :thumb

I too had very good service from our branch in Leicester, the assistant was very helpfull asked for discount couldn't do that so chucked in the extra armour for the hips in the trousers for free. :thumb

Hi stujw70,

It makes you feel confident to return and buy from retailers who support you when things go wrong. Well to to HG, top retailer!!! :clap

stujw70,

If I'm correct I think the new manager at Luton is Nick, who came from my local store in Welling.

He is a really nice guy and his customer skills are top notch.

Tell him we want him back as I'm not so sure on the new guy he left behind.

I had some Voyager 3 trousers.

They leaked at the crotch, so I took them back.

They were immediately replaced.

12 months later, after 3 washes with NikWax Tech Wash, the replacement pair started to leak.

So I went back, not really expecting much.

Manager promptly told me that I'd be better going for a pair of trousers with GoreTex and not Sheltex.

However, they were £70 more expensive than the trousers I'd already bought.

Manager asked me if I was prepared to contribute £15 to the upgrade, which is what I did.

It's the sort of customer service that brings customers back.

None of it is rocket science, is it?

I've always had a good experience when dealing with H-G :clap
My kit H-G the wifes kit H-G never a problem. Always comfortable and waterproof even in Scotland! If anything velcro gives out but can live with it. Bristol staff always friendly and have ben dealing with them for over13 years.

When i started this thread last year i had been well treated by the staff at HG Luton.

Once again i am pleased to say they have come out trumps.

Couple of weeks ago my 12 month old HG TRG Boots let in some water around the toes. Had a chat with Nick the manager last week. No problems he says bring in the boots with the receipt.

So as promised arrived on Monday AM with the leaking boots, sent on my way with a new pair from the 2007 range.

Well done HG Luton :thumb2

Technically any gore-tex item of clothing (with the exception of boots) is guaranteed for 5 years.

Gore-tex guarantee their product for the lifetime of the garment (ie it should be waterproof until the jacket either falls apart or you fall off and put a whole in it).

Not that I ever worked for HG or hold a consultant's certificate in Gore-tex :augie

Talk to HG staff about how to wash your jacket - Will prolong the life time considerably

Oh, go on. Tell us here.

Jacket

Always wash my kit in the recommended Nikwax fluid. Couple of cup fulls and bung it in the machine. All done!

gore tex don't seem to require the use of rather expensive, allegedly hi tech (ho ho) washing powders for their products.

gore tex is a mechanical barrier. why would it need any additional proofing?
