Last summer bought AGV flip helmet for SWMBO and myself.
One of the little screws that locks the flip down bit in place came out.
Went in and was told no reciept no help... nice then told that its not covered by warranty!! ITs a bloo$y consumable Whyat a load of bollox!!
SO avoid AVG flip helmets they fall apart and dont support them and avoid Hein poxy Gerrick coz they are sod all help.

As a footnote, this screw (actually a 10mm long pillar!) is £8 plus vat and they wont have any in stock at AGV for 2 months

My Experience with Hein Gericke has been mainly Very Good, although it does seem to depend on which Store you use. York and Chester, very good, Darlington poor. I once had a pair of Leather Salopettes replaced after 11 months of use after the Leather started to "Peel" on the seat. (York) The Helmet fitting service was very good.(Chester) Darlington staff where just not interested when recently we where looking for Textile Salopettes for my Wife to the point of ignoring us and chatting among themselves.

I don't really understand why you expect a shop to help you when you have no proof that you purchased it there. I've always found HG resonable and helpful.

I agree your comments regarding AGV, £8 for the bolts smacks of profiteering

I've been to 2 HG stores and purchased some stuff via their Mail Order.

I have always found them to be extremely helpful.

I tend to agree with Jimbo.

Some people do themselves no favours.

Wandering in clutching an AGV lid that could have been bought anywhere and then getting shitty with them for correctly asking you for proof that you purchased it from them seems a bit pointless. It should have been covered by warranty, but how were HG supposed to know if the warranty was still valid if you chucked the receipt away !

When did I say I got shitty with them????

My moan is that the bloke reckoned it was a consumable so wouldnt be covered by warranty anyway.

You are right though, just coz I was stood there in an Hein Gerricke jacket (could have bought it anywhere)and the girl rememberd that Id bought two helmets and a jacket for my missus obviously this is still not proof without a bit of paper from a till.

Next time a bolt falls out of my engine mount or front wheel spindle I will reflect that this is obviously a consumable:D

You didn't mention that initially.

In that case HG were a bit 'by the book' and maybe should have done more.

I also have had nothing but excellent service at my local HG store.

My wife bought a new Arai there and the manager spent the next few visists fitting it correctly. She also serviced my visor mechanism (and visor) despite My Arai being an import from the US.

my only gripe is there offer on the touareg tankbag......never appeared was on sale £40 ....eventually i logged on n saw my monies returned but no confirmation by email.

i payed for it on the net so they had me Addy...

was buying it for a mate n was pisd off to tell em no joy...
it could of been a present or summat, they dont know :blast

on other side h.g in Leeds well helpfull n if yer cheeky enough get stuff cheaper :augie

Probably because if you are taking something back because it is in some way defective the sale of goods act says you DON'T NEED A RECEIPT, you don't even need to have purchased it from where is being taken back to, all you need is that the shop you are taking it to is a supplier of the item. You don't even need to prove that it is within 12 month old, because warranty is shite, it has to be of merchantable quality and last a reasonable period of time. That is judged to be in proportion to its cost, so a £1 lighter that only last a week or two is ok, but a Dunhill one costing several hundred pounds you would reasonably expect to last at least as long as your statutory rights which is Six year from date of purchase. A collegue of mine had his harley engine rebuilt as the main bearings failed after 3 years, the he didn't need to go to court in the end they accepted that on a bike costing 6 grand dealer service from new, the bearings should be expected to last longer than 3 years.

And knowing your rights under the sale of goods act stops you being taken advantage of in the shop, and looking a fool in print.
