Anyone here had any problems ordering these stainless steel lines?.
I ordered a set last thursday but on contacting the spares shop on friday i was told that the makers (a company only a few miles from here) needed my old lines to confirm the correct fitting. (A 2000 GS1150 with ABS and Brembo calipers).:nenau
I would have thought that HEL would have sold enough of these by now to have all the jigs/data they would need.

I had the same problem when I tried to order some brake lines for my 2002 non-abs 1150. They asked me to measure my old lines and take some pictures of them! It didn't give me a great deal of confidence :(

Used them to supply a new front brake line for Ms Cheek's 650GS and had a similar experience with them asking for details of the length and fittings as their database did not list the bike.

The line when it came was too long as they had written down the wrong length but to be fair a phone call had the correct line with me the next day and the quality is spot on.

I used them for a MT500 SM I built years ago.

It had a standard KX250 front end but I still had to supply the the old line for them to copy - quick turn around though and couldn't fault the quality :thumb2

I used to sell these at trade prices ( look in the vendors forum), i stopped because of the slight variations that BMW make on their bikes. Which meant i was getting grief from people, through no fault of my own, or through no fault of HEL.

It didn't happen very often, most of the times they were perfect. But BMW make such slight changes without any rythme or reason, and in no particular order of manufacture.

I sent them lots of original brake lines so they could make exact copies of every slight difference between the many and varied lines that BMW made. Which worked fine for me when ordering lines that i was fitting, as i would ask for the type i'd sent i.e. "my type number 1" etc , but not much use when someone ordered from me over the phone when i trying to get info from the ordering person about the banjo angles etc, so i stopped supplying them to tossers.

Don't be concerned they need your old lines, they just want to be sure you get the right set first time. HEL are very good brake lines.

Your 2000 1150GS with abs could well be different to the other 95% of 2000 1150 GS with ABS. Ask BMW why .

Many thanks for the replys gents.:beerjug:
It looks like the reason i was given was genuine.
Because the actual manufacturer is only a few miles from Lincoln,i had a suspicion that someone was pulling a flanker on me.Ie,charging HEL prices while supplying outside the HEL warranty/quality control.
