Sold Helite E-Turtle Size L - As New

Decided to sell my very lightly used E-Turtle.

Only really worn for a couple of tours then left hanging in the wardrobe, so as close to new condition as you’re going to get.

Never been deployed and comes with a spare gas canister so, if the worst happened on a trip, you can replace the gas and be ready to go again. Also comes with the original instructions and charging lead.

Nothing wrong with the vest, it’s just that I’m more into off-road trips these days, and would like to replace it with something that has algorithms optimised for the rough stuff.

I’ve included the size guide from Helite, but worth mentioning that the size is adjustable by setting the length of the straps to your preference.

Price to buy this setup now is almost £750, so would like £400 collected from M3 J12.

I could meet somewhere within a 50 mile radius for a tenner to cover my diesel.

Will post using a service and cost of your choosing as long as you don’t ask me to use EVRI (long story, but I wouldn’t use them again if they were the last delivery company on the planet).

I’ve had some questions over PM about the difference between this vest and the earlier (and cheaper) non E Turtle model.

In a nutshell the E uses IMU technology to detect a crash and the first version relies on a physical tether to the bike which triggers the bag when pulled.

My personal reasons for “upgrading” to the E version were twofold;

Firstly, the risk of accidental deployment by forgetting to disconnect the cord when you get off the bike. This is embarrassing for the rider and hilarious for their friends who witness the event. Easy fix providing you have a spare canister handy. Never happened to me but I saw a mate do it and can confirm it is pretty funny

Secondly, and not at a funny, is that the mechanical mechanism relies on physical separation between bike and rider. So, if you’re unlucky and slide along with the bike (e.g. cornering low side), there’s a risk that the bag doesn’t deploy at all. In all honesty this could be dismissed as an edge case but I was concerned enough to switch to the IMU triggered system which removes the issue.

So, both versions are a viable choice, and the original mechanical one is often cheaper because it has been around longer and may be perceived as superseded. It comes down to personal choice and budget and either option is a significant improvement over no bag at all

Another question I’ve had is about the sizing / adjustment.

A screenshot of the official Helite sizing chart is attached to the original post but, to help clarify the fit, I wear a Rukka size 52 jacket (40” chest) and have the Helite straps adjusted to their smallest size. So there is a fair bit of adjustment available on the Velcro to size up to someone bigger than me.
