Just after some advice, have to lean my bike over a fair bit to be able to access Din socket for charger, I want to put Din or a 2nd Din on left dash panel so matches other usb plug on right hand side. This will only be uesd for plaugging in charger, can you get a kit or wiring loom to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Personally I would get a SAE lead and forget messing around with the plug.

It's dead easy to fit and mine is cable tied to the frame on the right hand side with helicopter tape to protect the frame but you coukd position it elsewhere if you want to.

Behind the RH panel that's held in pkace with a single torx 25 screw there's a red post to the right of the battery, that's the positive take off you can use to save removing the battery from the bike. Just undo the negative terminal on the battery, put the positive lead from the SEA lead under that post using a torx bit, then reconnect the negative terminal on the battery and include the black from the SAE lead.

I had that panel off at least 5 times today.....

Battery shagged.....went for spin anyway.

@Hatcho was kind enough to bring his NOCCO boost pack and be my personal AA for the day!!!

if you do not need 12V to the front of the bike, just fit a lead direct to the battery as mentioned above. Most chargers come with a suitable lead.

Thanks guys, but need the plug on top, still gunna have limited space to try plug in.

There is an extension kit.....I done it it in both my GS Adventure (2007)....put an extra din plug up the front.

It's a BMW part.....ring up your local dealer.
I'm sure it would work the same on the RS.
It basically just branches off the original socket at the seat.

Nippy Normans would probably know as well.

There are links to two adaptor wires in your original question on the RS forum. There’s also a BMW part to do the same job but good luck getting a parts man that knows enough about bikes to find the right part for you.

Probably easier for routing wires , unless you are happy to take bodywork off, using one of the splitters and extend the spur wires to your chosen socket position. Easy to route a wire through , as opposed to possibly having to remove bodywork to lay wires (with socket attached) under the tank.

Yes, thanks, looking at extending and fitting on left hand side somewhere, might have to knock a 3D bracket up. Thanks for the advice, think I know what i need now.

I fitted a switch for my DRL’s next to the factory fitted usb socket. There’s a reasonable amount of space beneath the plastic panel even with the gubbins for the usb. The left side is similar, space wise, and looks to have enough space for a Din.
