Hella Lights, Migsel Light Bar and Motoswitch Kit.

Hella light package

Visited Rob yesterday and had one of his light packages fitted. What a top piece of kit, bloody good value and what a top bloke... he sure knows his onions. The whole thing is brilliant, very professionally put together and the operation of the lights is so easy, I find it much simpler than toggling with the BMW main beam switch.

I'm sure that when word gets out how good this set up is, there is going to be a really long waiting list for the things. Robs a really nice bloke and can't do enough to help. When you tot up the cost of what your getting its clear that Robs making bugger all on the things so get one ordered now. You won't be dissapointed.

No I'm not on commision just really chuffed with the thing and you can't say that about much these days.

I'll get things rolling for a new batch of light bars!

If you look carefully there's a 160 mile strip of very burnt tarmac between Rob's garage and my back garden, following a very odd route and with quite a few scorched bunny rabbits on the verges......

I underwent the 'Farmer Treatment' yesterday and I'll completely concur with Yorkshire Whippet.......top job Rob, and great to meet you and Sam....you're a lucky bloke there mate :D

Thanks again for the hospitatlity and bed.......How's the petrol smell coming on ;)

(go on...you tell......it's a funny story :D )

Cheers

Bill

PS I'll post pics soon on my set-up....I've got the Superbright LED fogs and FF50's.......the LED's are on permanently as driving lights, the Fog elements are switched through the autoswitch and the FF50's come on automatically on main beam (the logic being that I'm only ever going to be on main beam with no oncoming traffic anyway so i might as well have the Hellas on at the same time)......this arrangement also means i can run all of the lights at the same time If I'm ion main beam with the Autoswitch 'on'........hence the singed bunnies....:D :D

Thanks Rob it was nice to meet you. I certainly know the way to win over a policeman? A cuppa and a bacon sarnie.

Unfortunatly Fanums fitting in the afternoon didn't go quite as well and I managed to break his QD fitting on his shiny new adventures link pipe, fuel everywhere and a seriously pissed off Missus Fanum. Hope things went well on Sunday Bill.

TBH Rob it might have turned out to be a result.....she was pissed off alright and it was a shame to miss Valentine's day with her but it meant i wasnt exposed to a chicken poxed four year old :D

Hope you got yours back on the road by now........and I don't care if it embaresses you but a public thanks is due for taking the bits off your bike to get mine sorted :thumb .......we got away with it without burning the garage, the pair of us and all the bikes down to twisted metal though fekk knows how...so no harm done and it was a great visit.......and the switch is the mutt's nutts......i ended up showing two guys how it worked this afternoon and they were wll impressed.

(oops......you know anything about fitting your switch to a Pan Yoorops or Africa Twins?? :D )

Bill,

Thanks mate but the most embarrasing thing was bumping into you on the landing in the early hours of the morning with us both in our undies - certainly not for the squemish.

Garage still smells of petrol :D I picked a new qd up this morning so the bikes back together again.

See you soon

Burning holes!!

Can't wait for mine, see you soon Rob.

Hi Rob, would like to order a set of driving lights, tried PM'ing you but not having any luck, let us know how you want paying and when, Thanks, Neil

Ordered Rob's package ( !!).

Just arrived and looks like top quality stuff. Pal of mine is a professional motorcycle mechanic and reckons Rob's instructions are the best he's seen in 20+ year's of working in the trade. Well done Rob !! You're a trendsetter !

Hi Rob,

I've just bought my ADV and wondered about the light setup, as people seems to be adding lights LR&C. How and why is yours different to the masses of lights available on the Tourartech catalogue please?

I'm new and need guidance :)

Cheers

Colin

Colin,

Touratech lights are OK but expensive. They are Hella's DE fog or Xenon, with TT mounts:
£94.29 for ONE fog light.
or £259.29 for ONE Xenon light

BMW fog lights are not very sturdy so I've heard (mounts breaking off) and also expensive, about £360 for a set of two.

Those are prices without a decent switch.

Rob's motoswitch is the way to go. And in a set with TWO lights and a ligt bar, you'll pay about £100 for a full setup.

Looks like this:

This is with a Hella FF50 driving light on top and an el cheapo fog light below. The Rob-set comes with the Hella's. But you can mount an extra set below too. The light bar is 4mm stainless steel, very strong, looking good and easy to mount. The lights are Hella, good quality, easy to find if you need a replacement. The switch is invisible and Rob's, top quality.

And you can light up the road!

Need I say any more? :D

Rob definately going for a set - I´ll just have to plan a trip to the UK so you can work the magic for me. What fogs lights are people using?

bob

I like Hella lights. They are good value for money.

FF50 (oval) and FF75 (flat) come as driving lights or as fog lights.

Hella Micro DE are fog lights, also. A bit more expensive.

PIAA has some, but I believe they are generally more expensive.

And I read good things about Halfords lights here, but I haven't seen those "in the flesh" yet.

Michel

I'm sure Rob won't mind me answering:
yes it does :)

The Gecko has proof for it. As some other I assume.

Cheers,
Michel

Thanks MiGSel; I'm convinced.

Rob, when you have a greater selection of lights - count me in

Guys I'm really sorry about this but I'm pulling the plug on the Lighting package. From my point of view it's far too much work on top of my regular job, if most of the suppliers were more reliable, price wise as well as service wise, then it may have been different. I'm not including Migsel or my Hella supplier in that comment by the way.

I've toted up all of the bills for producing the last batch and it actually cost me money to sell the lighting kits which is not a happy situation.

I'm going to carry on producing the Motoswitch and Power cables and will add the wiring harness and a few other items to my list. A big thanks to the guys who bought the kits from me and it was great to meet the ones who came round.

I have a couple of cheques that are I will have to return along with my appologies.

Pauljack I've just tried to email you but the mesage came back as undeliverable.

Thanks

Rob

Come on Rob :(

Just increase the prices to make a profit. People will pay :)
