Hello

First impressions:

Acceleration – ponderous, with occasional surges

Braking – slightly grabby, but considering the weight not too bad

Ride quality – comfy (see cornering)

Cornering – not brilliant, shaken around a bit

Weather protection – excellent, faultless

Looks – a bit dated

So, the question is "Would I use Trans Pennine Trains again to go and collect my new bike?"

:D

And I'm also very happy with this

I sold the one I had and kept my Hp2:D:D

Well, after only 300 miles my jury is still out.

I know it's not run in yet, but I can tell the 1190 hasn't got the immediate stomp of the HP2, but once on it's way (over 5000rpm) things start to get better.

I'll have to become a revver not a plodder.

A higher seat may be needed, bum to foot distance is much tighter on the 1190 - my knees certainly felt it. Especially now I can ride for more than 100 miles in one go!

No off road yet - first service, sump guard and decent tyres before then. Would be nice to loose 50kg though :D

Once run in I think Sport mode will have to be the order of the day - the extra 40 bhp over the HP just aren't enough to push the extra weight :blast

Biggest difference is on motorways - smooooooth.

So I'll let my jury argue for a while longer yet.

Jury’s back………………not a bad bike!

Now with 1200 miles and shod with TKC80s, sump guard, bar risers and GPR silencer.

Engine still has a slightly “woolly” feel – the throttle electronics not as direct as a cable? But the silencer has given more bottom end stomp, and since fitting I can ride in one higher gear in most situations.

I was a bit worried about how such a heavy bike would be on the dirt, but after a fairly short (and wet!) blast round some of the Peaks easier trails yesterday………………it’s a revelation! Wonderful suspension with better low speed balance and grip than the HP2 and within a mile or two I’d completely forgotten about the weight. I’d happily tackle some trickier stuff – something to look forward to.

Climbing aboard this morning I realised I’ve gelled with it, thought it would take longer but feels like I’ve been riding it forever. :thumby:

Glad you're bonding with it!

What is it about 1190 owners and photography? .......:D

Dare I mention Hilltop..................? The biggest difference for me was in the bottom end and a fatter midrange. It still like revs though, there's no getting away from that :)
