I wanna new helmet, and I wanna look like one of the <STRIKE>clique</STRIKE> gang.

So I was thinking of a Arai Tour X. You may have seen them around.

But then I thought, BMW do a similar one and so do Shoei. So which and why? :nenau

Arai Tour X?

Shoei Hornet?

BMW Enduro?

Or none of the above?

Tour x is the one to go for

BM one is noisy as feck but better if you need to wear goggles

Shoei skip too short and visor goes up in stages closed to 3"s open so no inbetween.

There ye go no-one else will need to contribute to this thread as what I says goes:augie

Cool! :thumb2

Shall I lock the thread now and get someone to make it 'sticky' so no-one else needs to ask?

Oh, no, hang on - I can see some opinions charging over the horizon...

sorry to sound optomistic but all you have listed is negative to prove the tour x as the better product, are there not positive reasons for the tour x? or is it just the only lid without a failing?

Tour X

So who gets really annoying vibes in the peak of their Tour X because the peak is so large. Its that large im surprised it aint ripped someones head off.
Aria are quality indeed, but the old Tour X 2 is old hat now.

I've got a tour x and apart from it being the draftiest helmet I've worn I love it. Yeh sure you've got to be a bit careful with the wind catching the peak, if your doing 90mph and you look up with a huge peak you get your neck broke it's not rocket science.:eek

I've just got the BMW one and am finding it v comfy and quiet.
Wore it twice then rode the Lands End trial in it so it was on for the best part of twenty hours and still felt good. Get the odd bit of resonance? from the peak but that will be easy to cure.

or ask yourself " do I buy the safest helmet I can or do I buy it to make me look like a twat"? :) oops forgot people around here take pride in the twat look ;)

Sorry could not resist.

Simple answer, if you want that look buy that one that feels best on your head!

Here I thought I ended the theread :rob

Yir tuppence worth is just that:beer: hic

Helmets

Hey fella,

I have been looking at the Viper helmets - they do a couple with bluetooth already built in - no peak mind, but a lifting front for £100-150 all in.

I know that a peak can have advantages, but the lifties with a built in set of shades really makes sense.

Thoughts ?

Thoughts ?

I've got a Schuberth J1 - the open face one, which is superb. I'm going to get another one soon but I also want a more off-road type lid as well - I've got a bit of a bug for doing some more off-roading since coming back from Marocco. Hence looking at Tour-X type lids as well.

Any opinions on the Shoei?

I love my Arai and don't have an issue with the peak vibrating. Probably because I'm a short arsed bastard and my screen is in the most upright position :augie

It's all in the fit.... ish.

The Tour X is certainly the most well put togeather, and I loved mine to bits. But since the lid I tried wasn't a UK lid and the one I ordered was, I had to shave the padding at the forehead. When I was looking for a replacement, I decided that I didn't really want to be cutting chunks out of another brand new £300 lid, so I got a BMW Enduro.

The BMW Enduro is light and comfortable, but it has a couple of issues. You have to rip the padding apart to fit a headset (the Arai already has pockets for speakers), and the visor will get scored if you ride with it up... even with the peak fully retracted. Probably not an issue unless you use goggles.

I'll stick with the BMW lid for now, but it'll almost certainly be getting replaced by another Tour X whenever I can afford it..... it's just a much better all rounder :thumb

:thumb2 Shoei for me. Admittedly not tried the Arai but no cause for complaint with the Shoei.

Regards Bob

Arai for me, but then, apart but from a very brief trial with a Roof lid :blast , I've always bought Arai as they're well made and fit my head.

Try them all on and buy the one that fits you the best, not joking.

:beerjug:

ROOF

Ive gotta ROOF full face, its a similar 'style' but no peak, VERY comfy and quiet with the seatbelt type strap connector, and a mate has the roof with the opening front (visor can still come down though) he loves that too !!
Great quality helmets.:thumb2:thumb2
