Helmet's

Helmets.

Before I brought the schuberth I looked at a caburg as this had a built in sun visor and was MUCH cheaper than the S. But it felt so light and flimsey, and it had an ACU approved sticker on it! i.e. approved for racing what sort of racing I've no idea mini moto I would think but I thought of the old adage
"got a cheap head buy a cheap helmet". This thing really felt unsafe and I would hate to try it out in a crash. One more issue to send all to sleep, why have they started making helmets out of poly carbonate, this was banned in
the late sixties / seventies as it was affected by petrol and paint applied to the helmet. Has the composition changed nowdays?.

Bill,

I've got the Caberg Justissimo Flip. Very noisy.

I've been looking at the System 5 and the Shoei Multitec. Like both, but the the special appeal of the System 5 is the ability to easily remove the chin protector (unlike the Caberg GT which is a real fiddle and a screwdriver job!) and convert it to open face. I don't know anyone who's done this with the System 5 yet, but the concept is great for the sort of riding I've got in mind this Summer, and you as well by the sound of it.

Doh..

This has been written about ever since they came out, but you cant stop the consumers consuming. Crap lid just like the concept I have....

I wish I'd read about the Tour X being crap before I bought it.

It is all down to personal choice at the end of the day. I have had my Tour-X for four years now and it is the best helmet that I have ever had.

Yes it has a couple of design faults I agree, but for me, the plus points far outway the minus ones. :clap

Got to say that i use a SHOEI flip top on a daily basis and it's on and off like a fiddlers elbow.
Had it nearly two years and has done me proud. comfy, reasonably quiet (for a flip top) and not too pricey(Not that i pay of course.company provided).
I am however looking forward to the multi tech flip top that arrives later this week and the reports on this are GOOD, much improved.
Will post update on this soon as road tested. Ps.. one of my mates. BRYN (GSER) has just purchased a BMW System 5 and he says "It's the quietest helmet ive had"
You have got to know Bryn to say that is a fine compliment, coming from him. Buyer of all things shiney.:rob

Shoi multitech

Funny enough I was in J&S yesterday looking at the Shoei Multitech, (amongst other things) and what a really nice looking lid. :thumb

In Arai sizing I am a 59/60, but the best fit Shoei was actually a size smaller. :nenau

But I was really amazed at how well it fitted straight away, very comfortable indeed.

Not to sure about the clear bits on the sides though, dont really want to see the latching for the visor. :( IMHO it would have been nice to have clip-on blanking plates on the sides, aka Arai helmets to cover those bits up.:thumb2

But I would still buy one though, pity there is not a better choice of colours.

Trouble with these is they leak water in . Got to Bordeaux in a heavy shower couldnt see a thing
