Having recently bought my "new" 1150 GSA off a lovely chap who didn't tell me about a whole host of issues including this I am now stuck out in the middle of nowhere having had the rear break lock the back wheel. I'm pretty sure it's something like too much fluid and the brake expanding to lock it up but any information to help resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.
Presently waiting for it to cool down so I can try n get home.
Cheers.
Paul.

Ahhh Is it a rubber hose on the rear?

If so its quite possible there is a flap inside the hose where it has delaminated and is acting as a one way valve I have seen this a lot

If you undo brake nipple just a smidgeon and let a little fluid out and see if the wheel frees immediately you have your answer

You could undo the bleed nipple and let any fluid come out, also try adjusting rear brake to give most travel.

Another tip, whilst on centre stand, push rear caliper in with your foot, helps stops the pistons seizing up.

Good luck, hope you get home safely.

Sounds like the pads could be binding causing the fluid to over heat. If you haven't got linked brakes, when cool you could try and carefully pry the pads away from the disc with a suitable screw driver and get home on the front brakes.

Thanks chaps. All sound advice and got it moving again.

Had a similar one with an R850R , swapped the caliper for a good used spare , no joy, new goodridge line again no joy it still locked up the rear after a few applications.

Turned out that it was a problem with the seals in the rear master cylinder , once replaced everything was fine

Replace or give the locating pin that secures the rear pads a good clean. They can cause the pads to stick thereby not fully releasing.
