Although I am quite computer literate I know very little about GPS units. 
A friend has bought a new Garmin Nuvi (I'm not sure which model) which came pre-loaded with UK and Ireland V9 mapping. Europe is not loaded and he did not get a Mapsource DVD with the unit.
I can get a Mapsource DVD which is V8, so if I load Europe to a 1Gb card will the Nuvi work from the card for European navigation?
