We are coming over to CW next Saturday as the bikes are in for their servicing and so I was wondering if there were any bike accessory shops such as Hein Gericke, J & S or similar in the town of Dorchester that we can wander off to as I would like to have a mooch at bike clothing etc ??

Not that I'm aware of. Too small a town!!
The Dorchester military museum is worth a look if you are interested, good views from the top as well.
Lunch is best taken in ye olde t shop in the centre of town. Can't remember its name but I'm sure CW will know. Its upstairs and all v old wonky wood paneling. Judge Jeffries did some work there if I remember correctly!!
Always had good food there.
It's a pleasant place to wander round so I'm sure you will be able to kill a few hours.

Most clothing shops in Dorset are in Poole or Bournemouth - can't think of any in Dorchester. If they'll let you out on a demo bike make sure you see Maiden Castle, 3 miles south. Unless the weather's as bad as I think it might be.

Girls bike too!

I am not sure where but you might be interested in a ladies only bike clothing shop, I think its in poole or bournemouth but it's called Girls bike 2 (or too), best try google if you are interested.

Sorry that I dont know more but I dont wear womens gear any more.

Hi Little Beemer. Went from IOW to CW last week for bike service. Arranged for early (0830) arrival so I could get away about mid-day. As said in other replies, there are no bike shops in Dorchester. Several places to eat. My mate came over later on his VFR and we had a good spin back, stopping at 3X motorcycles in Three legged Cross for a look round.
For info, got to CW at 0830 and Darren (service manager) came out, said "Hi John, come in and grab a coffee, and we`ll get the bike serviced so you can get away at about 1". I went into the town, and Darren phoned me at 1230. Can you imagine that happening at a well known IOW Honda dealer?

Cheers Daffy :thumb

John, Darren has told us to be there with the bikes at half 8 so we too can get away by 1pm hopefully if all goes well. Which service did you have? Ours are in for the 18k athough we are not quite up to that yet.
Your mate has a vfr....mmm, trying to think who that could be, his name would not be Chris by any chance, just a wild guess ?
No, I dont think you would get quite the same customer service at any of the dealers here on the Island not to say that I dont get along with them.

You wont be dissapointed going there 58mins from Lymington ferry terminal!
The guys at CW cant do enough for you:thumb. If you are having a test ride on anything dont forget to take your paper part of your licence.
Always loads of winos lolling about in the park whenever i go there.

The nearest HG is on Wimborne road in Winton, bournemouth. the sister garage to CW is worth a look it's at harman's cross, its the ktm dealer too.

Hi Little Beemer.

Service was 6000 mile on a 1200gs. VFR mate is (yet another) John. 58 minutes from Lymington ferry to CW is probably o.k. out of rush hour, but you will be right in it all the way. I caught 0600 from Yarmouth, and deliberately stuck to speed limits plus 5 or 10 mph or so, just to see how long it took. I rode off the ferry at 0635 and got to the big car park in Dorchester at 0800. I reckon you could catch the 0630 from Yarmouth (if there is one that day) and you will get there on time if there are no hold-ups, but I absolutely hate being late, and I didn`t want to jump the commuter traffic all the way there so I got going early.
Have a good trip.

Nick is the same as you John, he hates to turn up late and it all be a mad dash, he suggested we get the 6am ferry if there is one, will have a check in a minute, however there is a 6.35 sailing but the 6am is lookin favourite. We went to CW last yr for nicks service only but cannot recall how long it took. Fingers crossed the weather will be in our favour :thumb
