hi , can anyone help.? having recently done a good service, ive turned on the ignition to find the horn is constantly on. if i turn off the kill switch it turns off the horn but still works on the button. i am v bad at electrics. I cant understand why this has started happening, its been in the workshop for a week. so dry.
can wd40 cause shorting of electrics?

also on another point, my left rocker cover stud is rounded. ive ordered a replacement but was wondering if anyone knows a good way of gripping the old one so it can be srcewed out.?

thanks in advance.

Have you disturbed any wiring anywhere? Might you have pulled something out when changing the air filter? Could you have pinched a wire somewhere causing a short?

Do you mean the centre nut is rounded so a socket won't grip it, or that the thread is stripped?

I no longer own an Airhead manual to verify this but most bike horns have a permanent positive supply and the negative is switched through the button.

Your problem suggests that there is a common negative (earth) point shared between the killswitch and horn circuits and it seems most likely that you`ve trapped an earth wire in the killswitch sub circuit.

What did you do during this 'good service' ?

What did you remove and refit ?

Did you replace any missing bolts with possible longer ones than spec?

Was anything awkward to refit and a struggle to replace ??

Rocker cover....I assume you mean the centre fixing nut ?

A 'Metrinch' socket or spanner will piss it off as they grip on the flats rather the corners.
If the corners are rounded it`s trash anyway so if you don`t have any 'Metrinch' stuff try gripping it with Mole Grips end on or a pair of waterpump pliers.
