Hi Folks
My OE BMW spots on my '07 r1200gsa won't turn off?? Went through fog today so switched them on. Got to my destination, turned the spot light rocker switch to off, turned ignition off, removed key and went to walk off WHAT!!? Spot lights still burning brightly. Turned ignition on, tried spot rocker switch again they stayed on. Turned ignition off, removed key. Spots still on.?? No other way to turn them off so I have disconnected them where the lead plugs in the back of the spots. I am believe that this model/year are wired using a loom and relay.
Surely turning the ignition off should in itself turn off the power?
I have searched the forum for spot light problems but nothing appears about this, that I can find.
Can anybody shed any light (no pun intended!!) on what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance for any useful input.

Sounds like the relay has stuck OPEN.

Follow the wiring to find the realy....if it is a standard ISO relay, a box about and inch cubed, pull it out, tap it gently on a hard surface and it might free the latch......you will need to replace it but it could solve the immediate problem.

If it is standard, simply replace it with a 3 quid relay from any automotive store, following the numbers on the original....if not, you can either replace it with a BMW one to match (probably expensive) or we can help you isdentify which connections go where so you can replace it with a generic relay :thumb2

Agree with Fannykins. I have a K75 and every now and then the indicator will stick on even after turning ignition off and removing key. I lift the seat and the relay is just under the back of the fuel tank, a swift tap with a spanner and it frees up.

Yes indeed you were right...relay it was.
What a hassle though. All panels off. Tank off. ECU off. Just to get to the damn thing!! Why they couldn't locate it near the spot fuses, under the forward right panel, only BWM will know!
At least I got to know the bike a bit more intimately!!
