when I download .swf files, the bottom left hand corner says 'done', but I just get a blank screen. I'm using IE7, adobe flash player and shockwave, any ideas??:nenau

What do you mean by 'download' them? swf files are usually flash animation or games as it is a actually a small program that runs within the flash environment. They can be downloaded and saved if you know what you are doing so you can play them later. They just need to be opened in your browser. If IE7 won't play them at all while browsing you may have the security settings high enough to block them. They can be harmful to your computer if written that way.

You can drag .swf (Shock Wave Flash) files out of your explorer cache and keep them to play again later. Just create an association to your browser to run them. Be careful of movies though as they are usually streaming flash videos which need a FLV player to watch again. Plenty of free ones out there to download though.

thanks for the replies fellas,

by download I mean go to a page that ends in .swf, like here:

http://www.brackenspub.com/beer.swf

it says its downloading, says its done, but all I get is a blank screen, it's also happened with several links on this site (ending in .swf). my security settings are set to lowest, accept all cookies etc, (unless I'm missing something else)

If you download Irfanview and maybe the Plug-ins too, you will be able to open .swf file types and save them as a different type.
