Driving back tonight I found that the left hand control stalk is dead i.e. no indicators, main beam, horn, cruise control, info, hazards etc - even the satnav wheel doesn't work.
Any ideas? Is there one fuse that controls everything on that stalk which may have blown? RTM I know but I don't have it here and I need to ride to work in the morning in the dark without full beam or indicators which not fun.
Any help appreciated

No real help but the switch units on earlier bikes are faulty mine are being replaced next week. Several people have reported problems with them.

Good luck!

Push button phone, lift receiver, wait for purring sound..... Move fingers over squares, tapping out..... 0800 777 1111 or, if you prefer, 020 8686 2444. Speak when bell like noise stops and disembodied voice emits from the bit near your ear.

Dial phone? Ask an adult.

Nasher?

Shouldn't this be in the "reject your WC-GS because its not fit for purpose" section?.

Suggest that you check out the handbook, only 2 fuses listed for the bike which doesn't seem very many? They are under the front seat at the rear of the tank. Handbook shows you.

based on the fact that everything on the switch unit has failed, i'd say the switch unit has become unplugged under the tank, or an earth to the switch has gone o/c.

the only thing controlled by fuses on modern bmws has been the fog lights.

Thank you to all those who posted helpful comments and to Wapping too.
Weirdly I was riding in, resigned to a journey of no indicators, horn, main beam etc, when as I hit the London suburbs it all sprang back to life. I think Cookie might be the closest with a loose connection under the tank or something similar. Anyway I'll take it to the dealer at the weekend or should I be calling BMW Assist to do it all for me?

Well it looks like the problem is going to be resolved (hopefully). I just spoke to Bahnstormers and they have a new unit in stock and will replace mine whilst I wait tomorrow afternoon. Just hope that was the problem and not a loose connection somewhere further down the line. Time will tell...

What exactly is a "left hand control stalk "? Do you really "Drive" your bike?:blast

When I explained that it was the bit that controlled the main beam, hazards, indicators, horn, cruise control etc I would have thought that could have worked out what I meant as everyone else did. However if you are you still confused I can try to post a photo of it and draw and big thick line around the part I am referring to.
And yes - sometimes I do.

Go on then, post said photo of the Stalk:thumby:

While your at it, why not BOTH stalks:thumby::thumby:

I think I know where the big thick line should go too!

Well if you have finally worked out where the big thick line should go (and let's face it you were given enough clues!) then there is no point in me posting a photo of it.:)

That's true but if you had a bike, you would have a manual.
And if you RTF manual, you would see that there is a fuse under the seat which is for the left hand switch cluster and tyre pressure control !

. . . sorry, couldn't resist :)
I'll refill my glass and say cheers :thumb

If it makes you happier - you were right. It was the fuse and not the switch cluster that was faulty. Interestingly though the dealers first response was to change the the whole switch cluster on both sides "as we normally do" when they go wrong. Must be a common problem but when I said that the satnav dial was also dead they realised it had to be the fuse which was indeed dodgy and the problem is now fixed. I only wish you had posted a few days earlier! Thanks anyway.
