Fitting a pair of spot lights today I seem to have upset the bikes electric system, spots wired through a fused relay triggered by main beam being switched on, by just touching the positive / negative from the relay to the battery I could check all was ok , main beam on = spots on , main beam off , spots off. But after I made a proper connection to the battery I have amber warning light on and engine management warning sign showing , lost all bike electrics, horn , flashers, hazard warning lights.

Triggering the relay coil with the main beam is fine.
Best to use a relay with a built in diode to stop voltage spikes from the relay coil upsetting the can bus.
Find someone local with a GS911 to clear the fault, usually cycling the ignition will sort it but not always.
Good Luck

ANY BODY IN THE COVENTRY AREA THAT COULD HELP ME OUT THAT HAS A GS 911, TO TRY AND SORT OUT THE ABOVE FAULT, YOUR PALM WILL BE CROSSED WITH SILVER.:bow

I'm sure mistacat may be more qualified for answer as I'm now retired, but I'm thinking you may have connected the relay wiring wrong, maybe post a sketch here to await help..
I'm assuming you have disconnected extra wiring.. Might be worth disconnecting battery positive lead for half an hour, might reset can bus system.. (U never know, might get lucky)

Good luck..

Hi all, it looks as if the problem was a low battery, have had the battery on charge since yesterday morning, also disconnected to hopefully let the can bus system reset it self. Checked bike this morning, battery charged, all systems working, including spot lamps, seems the problem was a low battery , usually always have it connected to the optimate , but moved the bike across the garage about 6 weeks ago and didn't bother with optimate , lesson learnt, had a worrying day yesterday wondering were I had gone wrong and what had I damaged. All smiles now. :D,

Thanks to you that offered advice.:clap
