I'm no bike electrician and I have been doing a dry run for fitting my Starcom tomorrrow. Stress levels are high.

To my horror towards the end of my dry run I have discovered a mismatch on my leads.

The powerlead from my starcom (which could be connected directly to the battery) terminates in red and black wires.

The powerlead that I have been supplied to plug into the powersocket under the seat terminates in brown and red/green wires.

Does anybody know which wires I should connect to which please?

Blowing up my bikes electrics/causing a fire etc does not appeal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou.

I Have just wired a autocom tonight and if yours is a 1200gs the earth on the socket under the seat is brown and the live is the other.
It switches the power off after about 30 seconds so you cannot flatten your battery when you leave it stood either.
The live to your starcom should have a fuse holder built into it if its like the autocom as a simple guide.
Hope this helps. Good luck and take your time it will be fine.:thumb2 :thumb2

Thanks Beano.

It is a 1200GS. So unless I hear otherwise I'm connecting the red cable (which as you suggest) does have a fuse in from the starcom to the red and green cable on the BMW socket cable. THe brown on the stacom cable will be connected to black on the starcom cable.

I'm getting an early night to be ready for the big fit tomorrow. The fire brigade are on standby.

Thats it exactly correct and I have just double checked mine to be 100% certain.
Have a nice cuppa and a sandwich and take you time do not rush. Good luck and its a harder job to fit the headphones and mike into the helmets than wire the starcom up. :aidan
