Hi, I have a R1150GS 2003.
Got both wheel rims and some steel sticks damaged on my latest trip.
I am wondering: Can I only buy 2 new rims and some new steel sticks to replace the damaged ones? I was told that its hard to adjust the wheels in good balance in that way and I must change whole wheels. But its too expensive to buy 2 whole brand new wheels.
Thanks a lot!

Hello

You can buy just the spokes (steel sticks). Either from BMW or motorworks (who might ship to China).

You can replace the sticks yourself as long as its not more than a few. Take each stick out and replace with a new one. Tighten to the same tone when you ping it with a spanner as the rest. Don't do more than one at a time or the wheel could go out of true.

Its right that these spoked sheels are hard to make true as BMW use a jig in the factory, there are however places (In the UK) that will refurb the wheels for you. I'm sure with some time you could do it yourself but if you don't know what your doing probably best to find someone that can.
