Does anyone have any ideas where to get a reasonable priced mounting bracket that will fit the Zumo to my 07 reg GS1200?
I managed to get hold of a second hand Zumo with all the kit but the bike mount!

Cheers

The cradle is a Garmin part and has the 4 hole AMPS fix pattern.

The mount in the box is a RAM-B-178-A (short arm on zumo)

Using sub parts to configure own, so goes around the oval rail (LHS clocks), then RAM-B-231Z* u-bolt mount + RAM-B-201-A short arm + RAM-B-347 square base plate (AMPS).

*RAM-B-231Z has 1", 1.25" u-bolts and RAP-319 shim

cheers for the info, do you have any info on who stocks the parts you mentioned, I did a web search for RAM parts but so far haven't found any one who stocks these bits.

I had my Zumo mounted via the RAM parts but it looked a bit crap and wanted to mount it directly on the upper screen mount on my GSA screen (on GS standard bike).

The Touratech offering is super pricey so I was about to buy one of the adapters shown on eBay for £50 - £60. Then on a visit to dealers I noted a couple of bikes with a very simple screen mount clamp which takes a standard Garmin bracket.

I was suprised to find it was a standard BMW part called Retrofit Kit for BMW Navigator and even more suprised to find it only cost £29.00. The crazy part is that ir comes with a multi language instruction manual the size of a paperback book but installing it is as simple as bolt the Garmin mount on to it and tighten two screws to clamp it to bike.

The next step was to get rid of the horrible little security screw and replace it with a purpose made thumb screw from here

Now its perfect

Just wondered if you have a web link for the retrofit kit. I cant find any reference to it on the web - or maybe that's just me?

I bought mine from amy local BMW dealer. Just found the box and Googled the part No. It is

71-60-7-713-903 Fixture

The only place it came up as a web sale was in the USA but when I wanted one my dealer had them in stock so they should not be too hard to find.

The massive instruction book that came with it also showed an inverted U shaped tube which allows it to be used on a standard GS. Basically the tube is a replacement for the second screen mount which the standard bike does not have.

Since the last post I have changed to a Zumo 660 and the bike to a new GSA. The screen mount was swapped across but when I picked the bike up I noticed other bikes awaiting new owners with the mount already fitted so it is still a current, easy to get, part.

Many thanks, really appreciate the help.

Sorry for being a bit thick here but having seen the schematic of the part I can't for the life of me work out how it accepts the zumo mount. Can you explain in words of one syllable for a thicko?

When clamped to the bike there are four holes in a standard Amps pattern. I.e. the same hole spacing as the RAM mount that came with the Zumo. Just take the RAM ball off the Zumo mount and bolt the mount to the BW bracket.
