Help Muppet GPS Owner On The Loose!!!

I have just sold Streetpilo III and purchased a 2610. I have Map V8 (Upgraded from V7 on purchase) on my PC.
I want to pass on all Mapsource Codes to new owner and get what I believe is a free upgrade to V9 for my new chap.

DO I have to delete the existing installation of V8 and re-install new one, then register this with Garmin or is there a simpler way??

The unlock codes for Mapsource work with the GPS... not the computer...

If you don't have the software unlocked to a GPS, then it won't show full detail on your computer,

but you can't unlock it "to your computer"

Not sure exactly what you are asking for here, but as long as the new owner of the SPIII has your unlock codes, he will be able to use the software that you give him...

As long as you have unlock codes that work with your new GPS, then you will be able to use the new software...

Many Garmin Maps come with the ability to have 2 free unlock codes... You would need to get in touch with Garmin to get the second code.

1) what do i do to get my new 2610 to talk to the existing install and
2) How do I make sure I can update to latest V9 software?

Ok now I understand what you want, I think.

You've got mapsource and CN7 on your computer, but can't download any maps to the new (second hand) GPS.

You need to unlock your current software (assuming you haven't done this before, you should have a 2nd unlock code free)... you can call Garmin UK for this. Or perhaps try a visit here first...:

I wouldn't mention that you are giving the new owner of your old GPS your first unlock... may not bother them, but I think they want the owner of both unlocks to be the same person... just say you bought a new GPS, want to unlock it, then want to upgrade to version 9.
