Travelling down the A570 towards Southport...Sun shining...man and machine as one.
Then BANG!!!!
Sump guard comes loose and ends up flying down the road....giving my mate on his FJR behind a right fright!
The fasteners which are rubber have all sheared off leaving half into the sump...all of which are siezed solid ( Previous owner a tad unloving )
Whats the best way to get them out?
So I can refit the guard again

Good quality mole grips with sharp teeth on the metal washer bit still screwed into the sump (or the rubber bit if it's still attached).

Rubbers

Get a small pair of steelsons (6") and these will do the trick mole grips are not musch use but these will dig in and will removed anything. used them at workk and garage for years and indeed have removed these rubbers with them as well and they WORK, any decent tool shop will sell them.

Or ride without it... Mine did the same... molegrips didn't work and I got bored real quick. Now sumpguard naked for a road bike like the rest of the boxer range.

aye.. took mine off first oil change.. and never put it back on. makes a good tool and bolt tray for when working on the bike.. thats about all its good for.

sump gaurd

As the man says they are a paint to take off and put back every time you change the oil just leave it off if gong off road through loads of mud put it back to protect the oil filter.

Try plenty of wd40, or anti seizing spray , and a good pair , molies or slillsons , whatever ye can grip the mount with.

If they wont budge , apply some heat, to the surrounding area. this will expand the ally around and make the gap between the blot slightly less.

you could also get a sharp chisel and tap the mount around , to release it from the ally grip.
