After fitting a replacement 1100, 12 rivet output shaft to my 100 engine with new ball bearing race at the flywheel end. Every time I nip up the bottom casing that carries the output shaft the engine the engine won't turn over and the flywheel won't fit onto the back of output shaft as the splines are not central to the inner race. The splines are being pushed in a downwards direction, only slightly but enough to prevent the flywheel fitting. I have no obvious or visible reason as to why the centre shaft is being pushed downwards but things are not right for some reason. Completely confused at the moment, any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks Ian.

Lumped it

It turned out that the rear bearing race was very fractionally off home. Remounted the output shaft in a jig on the press and dialled in 15 tonnes and it clicked home. Popped it back in the engine and all is well. Lovely sounding now, had a couple of issues but they got sorted and now she sounds sweet. Back on the road soon.

As the man said I made a mistake and then I slept on it and sorted it next morning.
