Hi, I'm negotiating for a (barely used) but 2014 1200GS.

Sadly the (stupid slow) uk motorrad site only has the bike prices and nothing for the various options.
I'd love to see the option list if anyone has one!

While I'm asking questions, may i check to see if anyone knows when the newer bikes were upgraded?
For example, does a bike with cruise control mean I also get the 1kg heavier crank?
And- without opening a can of worms on the forum; When did they sort the heated grips and gearbox?

Thanks

You want a model year 2015 bike to make sure that you have the changed grips and heavier crank - I think it was minor mods to the clutch not the gearbox itself and to be honest there is virtually no difference between my 2013 bike and my new 2015 bike in that respect, just slightly less clutch drag is the only difference that I can feel.

Phone the dealer and ask them, just to be on the safe side.

2013 build bikes have the lighter flywheel; 2014 have the heavier flywheel; 2015 apparently have the better heated grips. I found a really noticeable difference (an improvement) between my 2013 and 2014 bikes. I'm skipping 2015 so I can't comment on the grips.

There's no correlation between the cruise control and the engine revisions.

My Sept 12th 2014 bike has heavier crank and improved heated grips.

Whilst on the subject. My 2013 GS had its engine replaced 2mths ago with a 2015 engine (so they said). Does this mean it has the heavier crank. To be honest I can't tell the difference, only that I now don't have the bloody horrible clutch drag.

Have you test ridden the bike, there may be a reason it is barely used,
Best advice is ride before you buy , just to be sure,
Did you find out what month it was registered,

Earlier 2014 bikes stil have the lighter flywheel. My grips are plenty warm enough. I do get the occasional false neutral. 2014 bikes have white suspension springs and a steering damper. Mines a March 2014 bike. Only problem so far is the exhaust valve needed replacing.
