I've replaced the bulb.. 30 quid :-( .. still no go.. its an 08 1200gs.. had a feeling the battery wasn't at its best because it nearly didn't start then the bulb blew so I've replaced the battery as well.. not to sure what to check now.. Its unlikely to be an HID burner (bulb). There is no filament to break. Most likely its a wiring connector to the ballast block or the ballast itself.

Battery is also unlikely. If bike start the battery is adequate. It can't cause the electrics to go over normal voltage and the headlight works only when engine is running or rear wheel is turning so abnormal low volts can't happen to the headlights.

Thanks bendy.. I'll go right through it tomorrow.. I know how my luck is at the moment it's not going to be straight forward.. :-)
