Help. Phantom Indicator Trouble

Can anyone help?

My left indicator will start to blink of it's own accord. To cancel, the left indicator button has to be pressed, followed by the cancel button. This does not always work so have to resort to holding down the cancel button while I pass left turns with cars edging out and then feverishly press any combination of buttons until it stops. Ten seconds later it happens all over again and this seems to coincide with the engine running or riding along.

I have replaced the indicator relay box, which appeared damaged, but the problem still keep happening. So no indicators until I find the solution.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Tim,

all indicator switches are an earth return for the relay, sounds like you have an earth on the wiring for your left switch. I have the wiring diagram (pdf), email me if you want it,

They are a bugger for getting corrosion in. Pull the switch apart and have a look inside. Mine corroded so badly the terminal just fell off as I was looking at it (ok maybe I was in a bad mood) but it just fell off.
