tootling along to work this morning, looked down and my RH indicator is flashing. thinks strange dont remember using that, tried to cancel it and as soon as I let go of the cancel button it comes back on. If I use the left then i have hazzard lights but the left one will cancel.

The bike is an 1150GS

Anybody got an idea what may be the cause?

I'm stuck at work for now, can anyone point me to the flasher relay/s so I can pull the offending one out to ride home.

Thanks for any help .

I had a left indicator switch fail - can't remember whether I had the 'hazard lights effect'. I had the whole LH switchgear replaced under warranty.

Pragmatix recently had a series of failures on his gear (a left and two rights IIRC). Unfortunately, you can't buy the switches seperately (if that is the snag). Motorworks sell used switchgear for about £35 a side (I think)...

switchgear

might be worth a pm to rcc54 he had some righthand switchgear for sale (without heated grips)

I had the indicator wont cancel situation a few weeks ago, in the end I had to ride holding the cancel button in....

eventually I removed the indicator relay from the fusebox to see if there was any obvious damage to it, couldn't see owt wrong so I put the relay back in

been fine ever since:rolleyes:

My LH indicator wouldn't cancel, the paddle thing was sticking a good blast of WD40 sorted it thankfully. Hope this is the case for you as the switches aren't cheap.

Best of luck

Hi guys thanks for the input, I removed the flasher relay to get home.

I now have the switch in bits and unfortunatly the r/h on button switch is shot. bet it going to cost a fortune to replace the whole thing for one tiny switch that will cost BM about thrupence.

anyone know where i can buy a switch button on its own to solder in????

Ring Motorworks and ask them if they have a set of switchgear which is damaged (ie broken headlamp switch) and whether they'll sell it to you cheap to allow you to cannibilise the parts. I seem to remember that Pragmatix managed to use a LH indicator switch to replace his RH indicator switch.

The indicator, horn and cancel switches are all the same and can be spliced in, the brown wire in all cases is the earth, the switches operate by taking the current to earth. As Mike O said get hold of some damaged switch gear to canabalise.
