I have had a refundable deposit on a 1200 gs adv for a while and only got around to a test ride on saturday.
I experienced a terrible weave problem which started at approx 90mph and got very bad as speed increased. The bike had knobblies on and obviously arnt speed rated over 100mph but is this the cause of the steering wobble, it was very unsafe. I reported this to the dealer and they are going to put some road tyres on for me to try it again.
Also I found the engine was holding back at high speed, anyone experienced that?

Yes probably the knobblies and you hanging on too tight to the extra wide bars cos of the wind blast. If you join the GS and slippers club you probably won't ever do 100mph again so don't worry about it ;)

I tested a 1200GS with road tyres last week and although there was a very gusty wind, I did not get any weather induced speed wobbles. I did find the steering to be much lighter than I expected and in the interests of finding the limits, I did find a small tug could make the the front do a few wobbles, but they certainly did not increase.

I do ride with a very relaxed grip on the bars and often loosen my shoulders with a few shrugs if I think I am tightening up. The benefit of the light steering is being able to but the bike onto its cornering limit with ease. A fecking brilliant bike IMO and I can't wait till I can afford one.
Enjoy, :bounce1 PB
