Help Please INTERNET PROGRAMMS KEEP SHUTTING DOWN

Hi

My PC seems to be throwing a wobbly.

if i go onto You tube and type in someones name it closes the programme, it has done it on other sites also, It disconnects from the INTERNET.

I have got Norton and done a system scan but it does not show any problems with viruses etc.

I thought it was me at first but it seems its the PC.

Anyone got any ideas?

Might be this

Open tools, manage add ons, Enable or disable add ons.

Disable the add-on called Codex Pack.


Cause my IE7 to close every time it opened a new window

Does this only happen when in U-Tube? - or does the browser shut down when using it for other purposes?

It does seem to be you tube, but it has happened to others also.

Bugger me, When i click on the link it shuts down the internet and takes me back to my desktop.

Try typing it into the address bar on your browser.

I would make sure that all your docs, pics etc are backed up to another hard drive.

You might want to think about a fresh install of Windows and clean up

That could be part of your problem right there, Norton. The greatest pile of crap you could have near your machine.

Have a search on here about it, but the general consensus is that AVG is a much better option and it's free. I have been using it for seven or eight years now without any problems at all.

Way to advanced for me, looks like i will be in contact with my mate who always fixes my PC when i feck it up.

No doubt he will get it running sweet again.

actually it's not shutting down the whole internet

get another computer to download it, then transfer with a memory stick.

it's a bodge anyway. even if it works, there's still an underlying problem unsolved. i think letting your mate look at it is the best idea.

I think there is a nasty bug/trojan/virus thing happening here. eek
