Evening all!!

This here is my first post on the gser forum, I hope its not a wet fart.

Now.....I have a 1988 r100rt and with that came a k100 rear luggage box with two 'c' shaped mounting brackets......and for the life of me I can't figure out how it fits on? I've been told it does fit, and I'm aware that I have the mounting plate missing that the box locks two. Can anyone help with advice on how it fits and where to get one of these mounting plates from??

Thanks for your time.

Right then (with apologies for the photos)

The 2 u-shaped pieces fit either side... the bottom end clamping to the pannier rail and the top end bolting to the grabrail

Not easy to see (flash didn't go off) but there's a flat piece of steel bracing just behind the grabrail between the two u-shaped bits

Then a K100/K75 rack bolts to it

Then you slide in the topbox mounting plate

And then the top box

Oh, and welcome to the forum BTW.

You might want to put something up on the relevant section to introduce yourself.

I did and have found the locals to be most hospitable

Thanks a lot for your help!! Much appreciated!! Hopfully last question:).... Any recommendations where I can pick those bits up from?

The good news is that it would appear that all the parts are available new (as individual parts rather than a kit) and you've got 2 of the 3 most expensive parts, the 3rd being the k-series rack which should be plentiful 2nd hand.

Getting sorted will come down to simply buying a kit from one of the breakers (eg https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=4&NU=10&M=20&Ct=WA&spPage=2), or perhaps buying a rack from a breaker (£22 from same breaker), get the other twidly bits from BMW and bolts from a tub in your garage.

Or watch ebay for the bits to come up

Thanks for all your help. Let me give you a firm cyber hand shake!! I shall get on to in immediatly!

Take care

Brad
