Hello all.

I am hoping to have a ride up in the Dales this Friday with a friend and have been looking at the Ingleton to Dent thread.
We haven't got gps so rely on the old fashioned way of looking up the route on Googlemaps and taking a map.
I like the look of the road in the above thread but can't seem to see it on google maps.
I can only see Thornton Lane heading that way and wondered if I was a million miles off.

Going to ride from Hawes on the B6255 but turn off onto the un named road at Chapel Le Dale and follow this into Ingleton.

The road mentioned would be ideal as we want to head up to Nateby on the B6259 then to Reeth on the B6270 and this would link nicely.

Many thanks in advance.

Andy

I believe it is Thornton Lane which was mentioned in the other threads. However, if you haven't ridden the B6255 before, you're missing a real treat as it's one of the best roads in the UK :thumb2

The road from Chapel Le Dale is a little gem ,when you reach the Ingleton end turn right towards Thornton in Lonsdale when you reach the village you will see a pub on the left called the Marton arms, and on the left a church turn right imediatley after the church and take the road up kingsdale to Dent.

Thanks for the replies. :thumb2

Looks like it might be a nice day for it too.

Will try and take some pictures and attempt a report.

Wow!
Where are those two gems?
Both on tourance tyres so not sure if they would be suitable but worth knowing about as we may be coming up for a weekends camping at the beginning of September.

24 degrees on Friday. No work. Full day pass out. Happy days! :D

I too have no work, and could have a full day pass out....looks good those roads rich ahem!

If those are where I think they are then they're definitely tourance-able if it's dryish as CraigS of this parish and I were there a couple of weeks ago, CraigS was on an F800GS on whatever road tyres come as standard on that bike.

Looks like Stake Moss, between the B6160 SD94316-80405 and Stalling Busk SD91876-86055 .Easier to go from Stalling Busk its a steep climb from the other end.

Bouthwaite (Gouthwaite Reservoir) to Kirby Malzeard for the fist track, going this way is quite loose and a bit steep maybe better starting from the KM end

then second pic is Busk lane to Gilbert lane, starting at Bainbridge.:thumb2

the end of Gilbert Lane is reasonably steep but very loose with the weather and 4x4's causing some issues:eek

more pics and vids here if you havent already seen it/them that is

All done on Battle wings, no problems.:thumb
