Hi all,

Have had a right drama this evening when trying to change the fork seals on my 1150gsa.

I've discovered that a nuts which hold the stanchions to the yoke ie. the ones under the dust caps have stuck fast and some gorilla has partially rounded off one of the nuts.

How the f*ck I do now to get the nuts off? Is this something a garage could help with because after an hour of thinking and using penetrating spray, I'm getting nowhere.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be much appreciated.

:banghead:

Don't use a bi-hex socket. Use a 14mm hex.

If it's too rounded off drill down the edge of the nut, and then it'll just fall off. .

Thanks Neil. Drilling them off sounds like a plan.

Ironically I did use a hex but it didn't help in this instance.

For reference, are these nut ssupposed to be single use items?

I don't believe they are supposed to be single use, they are just prone to corrosion.
Someone on here suggested applying a thick layer of grease to stop any further corrosion, which I did to mine.
Worth keeping in mind when you do fit your new ones.
